A message from the Executive Director:

Hopefully by now you have read my previous statement regarding the need to close the shelter to the public for the foreseeable future. If you have not, or would like to refresh your memory, please find the posting here at this link.

To further update you all on our plans during this time, I am adding a few more specific details in this post. Please read it through and help us share the word.

  • Should we need to address something with the public, it will be by appointment only.
  • We ask that any feral cat trappings cease till further notice.
  • Incoming strays and surrenders will be handled by appointment as well, but please call first to begin the process.
  • Phones will be manned from 8 am to 1 pm only.
  • We have a small number of animals onsite, viewable on our website. Should you have an interest in one of those animals, you are welcome to fill out an adoption application online (available when you click the pet’s profile pic) and a staff member will get back to you within 48 hours.
  • All lost & found pet reports should be entered online: Lost Pet Link is here and Found Pet Link is here.
  • Because of the small number of animals onsite, there is no need for foster homes at this time. However, if you are interested in fostering I encourage you to visit our Foster Care Program portal to complete an application as we are always recruiting Foster Parents for the Spring and Summer when the need picks up again.
  • Animal Control functions will remain the same and staff will address those needs as they arise. Animal Control has internal communication access and should continue as usual for all ACO business.
  • Should anyone find yourselves experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
  • Should any questions or concerns arise regarding these procedures or anything else related to business at HSSV during this time, please email me at info@skagithumane.org

Thank you, everyone, for your patience and understanding.  We will all get through this together. Stay tuned for more details, including information regarding when we will open once more to the public. Most importantly, stay safe and healthy!
