Hello friends of HSSV!
I hope you are all doing well and are staying healthy during these stressful times! I am writing today to update you all once again on our status here at the shelter. We plan to reopen our doors on the 16th of June. While we are very excited to be opening to the public once again, we want to do so thoughtfully and with great care. This email outlines what that will look like.
- We will be allowing the public to come in, but they must wear a mask to enter the shelter.
- We will be screening patrons at the door for fever and symptoms.
- We will also ask that patrons sign in on a clipboard with their name, phone number and email address (email address optional) so that we may practice contact tracing. This information will not be sold, traded, or distributed beyond our shelter. It will be used solely to contact the public in the event that we discover they might have been exposed to the virus during their visit with us.
- The public will not be able to take dogs out unless they have an appointment and are serious about adopting.
- The cat rooms will not be open to the general public. Instead, we will have an attendant monitoring the cat wing who will unlock doors and allow patrons into a cat room only if they are serious about adopting and only 2 at a time will be allowed in each room.
- We will ask that the public continue to engage in social distancing as much as possible while in the shelter, wash hands frequently and use the hand sanitizer spread about the shelter.
- The staff will continue to sanitize and clean throughout the day.
We will have volunteers on site to help us with these extra safety measures and we ask that you abide by these guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, animals, and the visiting public.
We could really use help with supplies as well. If you can donate any of the items on the list below, please let us know by calling 360-757-0445 or emailing shelter@skagithumane.org. You may also just drop donations off at the shelter and the staff will sanitize everything.
We thank you for your help, cooperation, and support during these trying times! We are looking forward to connecting to our wonderful community (safely!) once again!
In gratitude,
Janine Ceja
