UPDATE: We are now closed on Sundays for the foreseeable future. We will update if that changes.
We had the soft re-opening of our thrift shop in Mt Vernon yesterday. It was great to be able to see the public SAFELY coming out to support us. Keep in mind that masks are required when visiting the shop and we are limiting occupancy to 10 patrons at a time. We also request that you sanitize your hands before entering. We have sanitizer for guests to use. Our hours have also changed.
New hours are:
Monday through Saturday: 11:00 to 6:00
Sunday: Noon to 6:00
We still really need volunteers who are willing to work the cash register and screen incoming patrons at the door. This is a great opportunity for teens 16 and above who would like to earn some work experience. We offer all training and can provide a letter of recommendation when teens are ready to move into the workforce. Teens are often told they can’t get a job without experience, but how do they get experience without getting a job? Volunteering helps gain very useful skills and prepare teens for the future. It’s also a great way for retired seniors to stay active and social. Anyone interested in volunteering in either of those roles, please contact Megan or Amy at 360-424-5991.
On another note, PLEASE be aware that, while we are very grateful for your donations, we do need to ask donors to be selective in the items they donate. We are sanitizing and disinfecting all donations, but with the volume of items we get in, it’s easy for us to become overcome and run out of space, especially with a lack of volunteers to help cover the store while we go through the donations. We ask that donors limit their donations to only your best, clean, resaleable items. Other donations can be taken to Goodwill and garbage should be taken to the dump. Our volunteers and staff spend way too much time sorting through dirty, wet garbage that will never sell and that takes away from their time to receive and process quality items.
Donations are accepted from 11:00 until we are full on Monday through Saturday and from Noon until we are full on Sundays. All donations must be driven around to the back of the store and cannot be left at the front of the store.
We so appreciate your quality donations and patronage. We look forward to seeing you in our store in the near future! Again, if you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering, please contact Megan or Amy at 360-424-5991.
Stay safe and well!
